The Belgium international knows that with only seven games to go until the season ends every game is crucial and he is hoping to avoid any kind of slip up.
Andre Villas-Boas’ side host Everton at White Hart Lane on Saturday in what will be a tricky test as the Merseyside club still harbour ambitions of a top-four finish themselves.
“We’re up there in third, we’re in the quarter-finals of the Europa League and we can be happy where we are, but now we have to finish it, to finish in the top four and go as far as possible in the Europa League,” Vertonghen said.
“We needed to get back on a run and Swansea away isn’t the easiest game, they made it tough for us but we won and we’re very happy.”
