da betcris: A report by Italian website BlogCagliariCalcio.net has claimed that Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti has asked his employers to ‘probe the possibility’ of making a move for Cagliari defender Ragnar Klavan this month, but it would certainly be an underwhelming start to his transfer business since taking charge.
What’s the word, then?
da pixbet: Well, BlogCagliariCalcio.net claim that the 34-year-old, who cost them £2m when he signed from Liverpool in the summer of 2018, has emerged as someone Ancelotti would potentially like to bring to Goodison Park during the January transfer window.
The report states that the former Napoli boss has specifically requested that an enquiry be made for the Estonia international, who has made 31 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A club during the last 18 months or so.
BlogCagliariCalcio.net add that while the Toffees are yet to make a formal offer for Klavan, the player and his entourage have been made aware of the interest from the Premier League club.
Underwhelming addition
It would certainly be something of a strange move given his age and the fact as he would have to be seen as a short-term option to their lack of central defensive depth.
Surely the ideal thing for Everton would be to buy a centre-back who is good enough to be a regular starter for them if they are going to dip into the market this month, rather than one who would be more likely to provide back-up for the likes of Mason Holgate and Yerry Mina at the heart of the backline.

The Merseyside outfit have already been linked with some exciting names such as James Rodriguez, Lorenzo Insigne and Adrien Rabiot since Ancelotti was named as Marco Silva’s successor last month, but it’s fair to say that Klavan doesn’t exactly have the same appeal as a veteran former Red.
Perhaps he would be a cheap option in a month where fees can get silly, but you would expect Everton to be aiming a little higher than a 34-year-old playing for one of the smaller clubs in Italy’s top flight.
Still, if that is really who Ancelotti wants, then who are we or anyone else to argue given how experienced he is?
