da marjack bet: Just imagine how toxic and negative the reaction would have been if Arsenal had suffered a fifth consecutive humbling loss on Thursday evening, this time at the hands of AC Milan.
da bet vitoria: Gennaro Gattuso’s side entered the Europa League contest in near-perfect form but after double defeats to Manchester City and the loss to Brighton last Sunday, the Gunners really needed a win at the San Siro.
One of the key problems for Arsenal has been their incredible porousness at the back recently, their only clean sheets of 2018 being against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semi-final and in the 3-0 win over Ostersunds. But the north London outfit registered their third of the year last night as they shut up shop after scoring twice at the other end, and Calum Chambers played a big part in that at right-back.
The England international only made the starting line-up because Hector Bellerin picked up a knock earlier in the week, but the difference in styles between the two defenders – Bellerin a forward-thinking wing-back and Chambers part full-back, part centre-half – proved to be the perfect antidote for Arsenal’s recent defensive failings.
Indeed, despite being much-maligned by a large chunk of the Arsenal faithful, the 23-year-old was a integral presence at the San Siro, winning the most aerial duels of any player on the pitch while chipping in with one tackle, two interceptions and five clearances.
And despite lacking Bellerin’s natural flair, the 6 foot defender contributed at the other end as well, completing one dribble, whipping in one accurate cross and even getting a shot on target, showing he’s not a limited option on the right of defence.
So, Arsenal fans, is the injured Bellerin still Arsene Wenger’s best option on the right of defence, or would you like to see Chambers take up the role for the rest of the campaign? Let us know by voting below…
