da fazobetai: It’s been a testing summer at Blackburn so far with only one summer signing coming in. Prolific striker David Goodwillie moved south from Scottish club Dundee United and will be expected to continue where he left off in the SPL. Steve Kean has a big job on his hands this season with Rovers looking like one of the weakest teams in the league. An opening day victory could raise the confidence in the squad and provide a platform for a decent season.
da dobrowin: Wolves on the other hand have spent big on turning Jamie O’Hara’s loan move into a permanent one, splashing out £5 million. A further £7 million was spent to secure the services of Roger Johnson from Midlands rivals Birmingham City. Mick McCarthy has a strong looking team on his hands with Johnson providing the leadership that was absent from the Molineux defence last season. With O’Hara pulling the strings in midfield, Matt Jarvis prowling the wings and Kevin Doyle huffing and puffing up front a promising season lies ahead for Wolves.
Wolves look the stronger of the two teams and Ewood Park isn’t the fortress it was when Sam Allardyce is in charge. Wolves have pace down the wings in the form of Jarvis and Hunt whilst O’Hara and Henry will provide tenacity and finesse in the centre. I can’t see Blackburn taking anything from this.
Prediction: 1-2
