The 28-year-old joined the Midlands club from Lyon in January on a three and a half year deal, but made only seven appearances for the Villa Park outfit and was sent off against Blackpool back in February.
The 54-times capped player was greeted by 250 fans as he turned up to the Karaiskakis Stadium, and is looking forward to getting started with Ernesto Valverde’s team.
“I feel very good about the way the Olympiakos family have welcomed me. I have come here to help this team grow even more and I am very happy about moving to this club, all that remains is to get down to work,” he told reporters.
Makoun’s new team have been drawn in Group F of the 2011-12 Champions League, along with Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and Marseille.
