da realsbet: Contrary to what Aston Villa supporters might believe, Chris Samba did indeed turn 34 years old on Wednesday.
da dobrowin: The centre-back seems to have been around forever, with his time in the English game starting at Blackburn Rovers in 2007.
Samba actually spent five years with Blackburn before leaving for Russia. An unsuccessful spell at Queens Park Rangers followed, and he has also since represented Dynamo Moscow and Panathinaikos before returning to England with Villa.
Samba signed a one-year contract with Villa ahead of the 2017-18 campaign, and he has made 12 appearances in all competitions for Steve Bruce’s side this season.
The defender has not been in the squad for a Championship match since December, however, and it seems almost certain that he will leave Villa Park this summer.
The former Congo international, who is valued at £900k by transfermarkt.co.uk, turned 34 on March 28, which came as a surprise to a number of Villa fans, who thought that he was actually pushing 50.
