da betway: According to The Sun, ADO Den Haag enforcer Wilfried Kanon has emerged as a potential January target for Roy Hodgson and Crystal Palace, but is he what the Eagles need right now?
What’s the story?
da roleta: Crystal Palace’s poor run of form has seen them pick up just one point at home this season thanks to defeats at the hands of Liverpool, Southampton and most recently Wolves. They have shipped 5 goals at home in their 4 games, with Palace’s only point at home coming against strugglers Newcastle.
Roy Hodgson seems to have acknowledged his side’s poor record at home and feels that the answer is to go shopping in January to try and shore up the Palace defence. Den Haag’s Wilfried Kanon is reportedly high up on the wishlist, a player previously linked with fellow Premier League outfit Everton.
The 6 football defender has been plying his trade in Holland for 5 years and has won 30 caps for his country, playing 687 minutes out of a possible 720 this season. The Ivorian is currently valued at £2.25m by Transfermarkt, pocket change for most Premier League sides these days, but would Hodgson be wiser to go searching for a player to help out the Wilfried who is already at the club?

What do they need instead?
The glaringly obvious issue at Palace is not the defence but the attack. They are the only team in the Premier League yet to score at home this season. A previously out-of-form Christian Benteke is currently sidelined with injury, loanee Jordan Ayew has worked hard off the ball but is yet to contribute in front of goal and Norwegian Alexander Sorloth has looked out of depth since his arrival in January.
The burden of goals has once again fallen on Wilfried Zaha who has recently looked less than his best, and when their talisman isn’t performing, the rest of the team seems to be clueless when they advance into attacking areas.
Palace have already spent big on their defence alone in recent transfer windows, and if they were to devote that kind of financial attention to a reliable goalscorer this January then they could be pushing for a top ten place instead of looking over their shoulder at the relegation zone for another season.
