da imperador bet: A moment of madness from Leeds United goalkeeper Kiko Casilla was the catalyst for the Yorkshire outfit’s collapse in their play-off semi-final second leg tie defeat to Derby County in midweek, and Whites supporters have clearly got their eyes on a new number one in Sheffield Wednesday’s Keiren Westwood.
The Republic of Ireland international’s contract at Hillsborough is due to expire at the end of next month, but The Sheffield Star reported on Thursday that the Championship club are set to exercise a one-year option to extend his stay for at least another 12 months.
The 34-year-old proved he is one of the best in his position in the second-half of the campaign having been frozen out by Jos Luhukay previously, as the Owls came from nowhere to nearly secure a top-six finish.
Meanwhile, Casilla may well have been signed from Real Madrid, but he has looked anything but a player that has represented the La Liga giants previously in recent weeks.
He rushed out of his area twice in as many minutes at the end of the first half against the Rams on Wednesday, with the first leading to a goal that brought Frank Lampard’s men back into the tie.
As the debate over THAT Leeds goal rumbles on, Pl>ymaker FC’s newest squad member has his say in the video below…
Leeds fans would not have been impressed and they now want their club to make a move for Westwood, who is clearly good enough to dislodge the Spaniard next term.
While one supporter simply said “go get him”, another said “Westwood is a definite improvement on what we have”.
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
