Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has stated that Jack Wilshere may well return to action before the end of the season, but has admitted that a cautious approach is being taken to avoid any setbacks.
The England international has missed the entire campaign through injury, but the French coach has admitted that the midfielder is on the mend.
“The last scan was good and he can start to jog again so he is on the way back – but we have to be very cautious with him,” he told Mirror Football.
“I hope to have him back before the end of the season, but we go step by step.”
Arsenal have recovered their form in the Premier League, after wins over Tottenham and Liverpool have lifted them to fourth place in the table, just four points behind their north London rivals.
Despite a top-four finish being the club’s priority, Wenger has rubbished claims that he is set to rest in-form goalscorer Robin van Persie in the club’s Champions League second leg against AC Milan due to being 4-0 down and facing elimination.
“Van Persie in this form can help in this situation, he won’t be rested. We want to make the impossible possible – that’s our target. You never know,” he concluded.
